Frequently Asked Questions

Can you record a full band?

Yes, we can record a full band. However, we are a project studio. That means we do have some limitations that a full studio will not. Usually meaning we don't have a large, "live room". We are always up front about what we can do in our studio. We are not afraid to push the boundaries, but we will never misrepresent our capabilities.
Our typical method of recording is multi tracking instruments and vocals "track at a time". We have, and do track more than one instrument at a time sometimes, and get great result at that, too. We always want to sit down with you first and make sure we can actually help you achieve your goals. We don't want to tackle something we can't do anymore than you want to waste your time at a place that can't do it!

Can you make my CD as loud, or "LOUDER" than everyone else's?

Yes, we can.
But is that what you really want?
Take a look at some of these links:

The Loudness War
Music Machinery
Wiki

They reveal a disturbing trend in the last couple of decades of music that has been dubbed "Loudness Wars". Very informative.

Do you Master CD's, too?

Well, sort of. Here's what I mean.
Real, professional Mastering is a task better left to, well... Real, professional Masters! Here's why.
Any (most) studios, especially Project Studios that claim they can do it all should raise your skepticism level. Mastering is a skill level and equipment level unto it's own. That's not to say that we or any other Project Studio can't deliver a quality product. We can. But we do encourage you to have your music Mastered by an outside source. A fresh, experienced set of ears are invaluable to the final product. Professional Mastering also uses some slightly different tools. Usually much higher quality EQ' and compression as well as other tools, too. We (you) often get lost, or to close to our "baby". Objectivity is often lost.

Mastering Secret #23 (Recording Studio Bias)

That being said, we do offer "sweetening" of tracks. I can't say we Master, in the true sense of the word. But we can improve an otherwise mediocre mix. Again, we try not to misrepresent our abilities.
